Minimum OEM Support

My Pixel 4a shows it will be supported with security updates at least until August 2023. What happens after that date and do I run security risks after August?

End of life support for the 4a offically ends in August. However we typically see a few more updates for the device pushed out after this offical end date. This date does not mean the device no longer is unusable or unsafe to use. This date basicly means that going forward the the Operating Sytstem will no longer receive develpoement that includes the Pixel 4 device. If some major security breach or secuirity flaw is uncovered they will push out a patch for this. There will be useful life in the device for quite sometime after this date. As an example I am still using a Pixel 3a running GrapheneOS on a daily basis and do not see changing anytime soon.
