Cycling apps alternatives

Cycling apps alternatives

  By: peter.kripp on March 8, 2023, 3:49 p.m.

I use Strava, Garmin Connect, RidewithGPS, and Komoot for my cycling activities. Maybe there's no way around this but has anyone used alternatives to these programs? Because these sites use Google Maps and see my activities I assume they share my info with 3rd parties. I like sharing my info with other cyclists and there may be no way around this, however I would love suggestions by other cyclists. Thank you,

I use the Garmin connect app on my Ghost Phone. Although Garmin is a big company I do not see them as Big Tech per se. They do not appear to be woke or evil and out to get the normal guy> They just seem like a legit company offering good products and trying to make a return on their buisness operations.

I do not use Strava on my phone but I do have a Strava account that I feed my Garmin activites to. I do this to notify my friends that use Strava when I go cycling and allow them to see my ride data. I only access Strava through a web browser when I need to.

I use a lot of Garmin stuff. They make a lot of aircraft avionics and as a pilot, most of the planes I fly have Garmin GPS navigation equipment, radios and transponders in them. All their stuff works well.

Here is a link to use to download the Garmin Connect App to your phone.

This is one app that I have found but have not used yet. It looks really promising:
