Beginner tips?

hi! first learned of this on Stand Up For the Truth interview, and have been working since to learn about better tech security and privacy. im 50 and havent been too interested in keeping up with the latest tech stuff but this is motivating me to care. unfortunately its intimidating and as much as i want to make the jump to a ghost phone and do not mind giving up the ease of my iphone i do wonder about not having the background knowledge to pull off the switch. ive read through customer posts and replies and am confident that you are very helpful and responsive. and, as i heard in the interview, you said you wanted a product that you dad could use.
is there anything you recommend to further prepare myself for making the switch?
any others in a similar position ?
