STOP FEEDING YOUR DATA TO GOOGLE AND APPLE. Local external hard drives have become relatively cheap lately. Connecting such a hard drive, or even a storage stick with a USB-C input, and going to Settings/System/Backup makes the process super simple.

can someone give more details. when I plug it in to my apple computer and go to settings backups on my phone, the USB Flash drive option dosent come up. are you saying plg it into a flash drive? not the computer. I have an external drive on my computer I keep pictures and videos. I am confused about to to get the pictures and videos off the phone.
